You're right, the verse does ...Dear Anonymous,

You're right, the verse does not say Jesus became a sinner, and I pointed that out in the post. I agree with you fully that the statement I quoted about Jesus becoming the vilest sinner on earth is indeed ignorant and blasphemous.

My point was not that Jesus became a sinner, because He did not. My point was that He also did not *literally* become sin itself, either. That would be just as blasphemous.Anastasia Theodoridishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16092531121989260111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6546468339418636140.post-80351550147978384892011-04-25T18:16:21.732-04:002011-04-25T18:16:21.732-04:00Your first statement; "Jesus had to die becau...Your first statement; "Jesus had to die because on the cross He became the vilest sinner on earth." tells me you've been listening to "Preachers for Dummies". Give it back to Copeland,Crouch,Hagan, and all those ignoramouses...It's a lie! That's the most blasphemous and ignorant thing I've ever heard. It defies all scripture and it just shows that you are parroting those false prophets. Jesus was THE sin offering...NOT SIN ITSELF!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6546468339418636140.post-18103974902805596432011-03-28T16:39:45.584-04:002011-03-28T16:39:45.584-04:00You are missing the point completely of that 2 Cor...You are missing the point completely of that 2 Cor 5:21. That verse does not say He became "a sinner" but that he became sin itself for us. Thus, through the breaking of his flesh the power of sin is broken over us (read Rom 6 and the rest of 2 Cor 5). In fact, in Paul saying "He knew no sin", he is saying he was not a sinner of any kind.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6546468339418636140.post-29959379580663762582009-02-20T06:30:00.000-05:002009-02-20T06:30:00.000-05:00This is a mystery, but a beautiful one. And yes...Yes, Jesus Christ has two wills, not one. And yes, His human will found it necessary to submit itself to His divine will.

Even so, if we say the Father killed Christ, then, to preserve the unity among the Persons of the Holy Trinity, we have to say tht together with the Father, the Holy Spirit also killed Christ, and that God the Son also did. Not just the Father. Either they were all in it together, or none was.Anastasia Theodoridishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16092531121989260111noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6546468339418636140.post-8672364182290564092008-02-28T19:22:00.000-05:002008-02-28T19:22:00.000-05:00"But if He were, then, since the Holy Trinity alwa..."But if He were, then, since the Holy Trinity always works as with one will, one purpose, one mind, one power, we would have to say God the Holy Spirit also did it and God the Son also killed Himself to appease His own wrath. Else we would be pitting at least One of the Holy Trinity against at least One Other, in a manner not permitted by basic Trinitarian theology."

"Not my will, but Thine be done."

The person of Jesus Christ has two wills, not one, right? So it's not a case of pitting the persons of the Trinity against each other as much as it is the conflict between the two wills in Christ.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
