On Cheeseburgers: Note to Self

or, Can You Not Have Your Virtue and Eat it, Too?

Feeling secure in your intention to give in eventually is what gives you the "strength" to delay it - long enough to allow you to feel virtuous for having at least struggled awhile.

  1. that's how I am with the internet, trying to cut back, so I purposely wait 20-30 minutes longer than when I had planned to go on...knowing I'll eventually do s.

And when I smoked, too, it was easy to go down to two a day. As long as I knew I had one to look forward to, the day ws manageable.

I didn't know it counted as virtue, though.

  2. Dear Marsha,

What I described is not virtue, but going down to 2 smokes a day, now that definitely IS virtue!
