Finished bit of knitting. It's a Liver (rhymes with "diver") Bird, symbol of Liverpool and in particular of the Liverpool Football Club. That's soccer for Americans. It's just a hotpad or table decoration. Gave it to James, Demetrios' godson, an enthusiastic Liverpool supporter.
I decided to make it double-sided.
I can't even imagine the smoothness of the color-changing moves that made not just one side but two sides come out so that you can't see the mechanics of switching the yarns. Wow. That's skill.

You're very kind. This is double knitting, a technique that allows nearly complete freedom with two colors. Googling on 'double knitting' will get you tutorials, videos, and a short, sweet explanation from Wikipedia.
