"Oh, my goodness!" Demetrios yelped when the five o'clock news came on. "I'm so sorry, my love, I forgot!"
"Forgot what?" I asked, mildly alarmed.
"You mean you've forgotten, too?"
"Forgotten what?"
"It's our wedding anniversary today!"
We just looked at each other for a long moment -- and then burst out laughing.
Seventeen years, through good and bad times, of true, deep, and abiding love.
(Take that, ye devils and ye doubters!)

That is so funny! May God grant you many, many years.
Happy Anniversary.
LOL! Thank God for fogeyness.
Well, there has been a lot going on lately.....
Many Years ! to you both :-)
Congrats! May God grant you many more, and many more warm memories!
Similar thing just happened to me and Best Friend Pat. On Saturday, 3/15, when I was out of town, I received a text message from daughter Merry saying only "Call Pat". Even as I started realizing how illogical it was to be worried, because why would Pat call Merry instead of me if there was an emergency? still I started to panic and called Pat. "Is everything OK?" "Yes, why?" I explained the text and neither of us could figure out for the life of us why Merry would send that mesage. After 10 minutes on the phone with Pat, I called Merry to ask, but even as I was dialing I realized that it was the Ides of March, something that Pat and I have jokingly celebrated together every year for 40 YEARS (it started in college, with black candles and all...) We had a huge laugh when we realized that neither of us remembered, but Merry knew!
Happy Anniversary, and many more.
LOL. That's so funny! Many healthy and happy more to you both!
Sevvi, what a delightful blog you have! I've added it to my blogroll, and I'm sure many other Orthodox moms will appreciate the crafts, recipes, prayers, etc.
I share with you some of your favorite books, movies, and hobbies (like knitting, crochet, Jane Austin, Jane Eyre, tea, and more).
Okay... some of us have also done the same fog-over! My wife cautions that there were "extenuating circumstances", but I'd say those started at the git go when we over-dressed with 108 degrees on an August Saturday waaaay long ago. We're doing the 28 year soon-to-be 29 year deal.. but if you've only reached one point when you look at each other the night before and go, "Uhhhhh... about a card...." and see the look of panic and relief... I guess it's where we say it's nice to know we forget together.
Many years! and may it be many MORE years before it happens again!
