To prove it to yourself, try deciphering these items copied from the Beverages Menu at the airport in Thessaloniki, Greece. If you're thirsty enough, you won't have all that much trouble.

Oops, I'v misspelt a Greek word at the bottom of the middle column. The third and fourth letters are transposed. I'll bet you can still get it without much difficulty!
I knew there was a good reason for Greek Schools in parishes. :)
Thanks to your quick lesson in Greek letters I was able to read the title of the book on the chanters stand last night...Orthros...who knew a "p" was really an "r"!
They say that one way to fight the aging process of the brain is to engaging in challenging mental activities and one of those is learning a new language...so this year I will cave and start learning one although I haven't figured out yet if it will be Greek, French or web design!
might I recommend a simple book for a layman (it will help you as you use a Strong's, Vine's or other REAL reference book) titled: Learn New Testament Greek by John Dobson.
Dixie, that's extra wonderful, considering I didn't even list the theta you needed to read that title!
Anam Cara, thanks for the book recommendation.
So, Christopher, did you read them all?
I think I got all of them. Staring at the Greek services and trying to pronouncing the phonetics has helped in deciphering the Greek alphabet.
Oh dear, I'm hopeless!
