Feeling secure in your intention to give in eventually is what gives you the "strength" to delay it - long enough to allow you to feel virtuous for having at least struggled awhile.

that's how I am with the internet, trying to cut back, so I purposely wait 20-30 minutes longer than when I had planned to go on...knowing I'll eventually do s.
And when I smoked, too, it was easy to go down to two a day. As long as I knew I had one to look forward to, the day ws manageable.
I didn't know it counted as virtue, though.

What I described is not virtue, but going down to 2 smokes a day, now that definitely IS virtue!
